Andrew has been teaching privately, giving clinics and doing adjudication work in and around the Manitoba area since 2010 and is highly respected in the Manitoba music community as a trumpet and jazz educator.
Andrew acted as Associate Jazz trumpet professor at the University of Manitoba in 2021-2022 and has taught at the University of Manitoba Jazz Camp, International Music Camp, Prairie Brass Camp, along with adjudicating at the Brandon Jazz Festival.
Andrew is involved in all Winnipeg school divisions as a trumpet/jazz clinician and teaches private trumpet lessons at the Winnipeg Conservatory of Music, Westgate Mennonite Collegiate as well as his own home studio.
He enjoys helping and sharing musical ideas with others. He hopes that all of his students have fun playing music and enjoy the process of getting better at the trumpet along the way.
Education
Over the Pandemic Andrew arranged 11 Jazz Standards as duets FOR ALL WIND INSTRUMENTS at various experience levels. Aside from having the duets transposed into C, Bb, and Eb, he includes recordings (trumpet only) and instructions on different ways to play and learn from the duets. Each arrangement is equal in level between parts 1 & 2 and each part gets a chance to play the melody. Each tune also has a Soli section and is intended to walk the line between small group and big band playing. They are listed in order of difficulty.
